The Nature and Nurture quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a vital storyline mission that introduces Scar and revitalizes the Sunlit Plateau. Completing this journey requires players to investigate hidden cavern systems, craft special explosive beverages, and restore magical artifacts. Following a clear step-by-step path ensures that you can efficiently unblock the river and bring life back to the valley.
Investigating the Giant Skull and Vitalys Mines
To initiate the quest, players must head toward the Sunlit Plateau and enter the giant elephant skull located in the northeastern area. Inside, you will encounter Scar, who reveals crucial details about the dried-up river and blocked channels. After speaking with him, navigate to the mouth of the river near the waterfall to access the Vitalys Mines.
While exploring the mines, use your pickaxe to clear rocks and Night Thorns that block the winding subterranean passages. Make your way toward the deepest section until you find a chest containing dried ginger, crackling candy, and a special recipe. Be sure to inspect the nearby sign to understand how to clear the river obstruction.
Crafting the Extra Fizzy Root Beer
Head to a cooking station to prepare the Extra Fizzy Root Beer needed for the blockage. Combine the specific dried ginger found in the mine chest with vanilla and sugarcane to successfully craft the drink. Do not use regular ginger, as it will produce normal root beer that lacks the required explosive reaction.
Return to the red barrel located near the top ramp inside the Vitalys Mines. Place both the Extra Fizzy Root Beer and the Crackling Candies into the barrel to trigger a reaction. This cutscene clears the massive Night Thorns and restores the natural flow of water through the plateau.
Retrieving the Orb of Nurturing
After leaving the mines, observe the dark portal that appears near the elephant graveyard and follow the mysterious Forgotten figure through it. Pick up the dropped glowing item on the other side before returning to the main valley. Bring this item directly to Merlin so he can analyze its magical properties and guide your next steps.
Merlin will instruct you to gather materials required for a Miracle Growth Elixir. You will need ten Vitalys Crystals from mining nodes, ten Rich Soil from harvesting crops, and one thousand Dreamlight. Craft the elixir at any workbench and apply it from your inventory to upgrade your Royal Watering Can.
Planting and Restoring the Pillar
Travel to the Pillar of Nurturing situated in the southern region of the Sunlit Plateau. Dig a hole directly in front of the pillar, plant the Orb of Nurturing, and water it thoroughly with your upgraded can. The orb requires consistent care over approximately two days before it fully matures.
Return periodically to water the growing orb whenever the soil appears dry. Once the full growth period concludes, harvest the fully restored orb and place it into the pillar. Finally, speak with Scar to finalize the quest line and unlock additional character interactions.
